A couple of changes and reminders: At River's Edge Studio, we now have a calendar in the classroom that you may sign up for classes on. This will allow students to see in a glance what is coming up, how full the class is, and to reserve their spot! It will help us to keep up as well. (You know how busy Fleta and I are!) We are asking that students sign up the end of one month for any classes they would like to take the following month. It helps with planning and again, reserves your seat. Also, if for any reason you need to miss a class you sign up for, you may make it up in one of the Studio classes on Mondays or Weds. but, it will need to be made up within a months time. Fair for both you and me! This is a six week workshop. Use your medium of choice. Learn how to paint realistic animals, pets, etc. in your favorite medium! How to make fur look real whether it is soft, long, short or fuzzy! Do you want to include a background? Do you need a background? How close should you get, what's the best way to get a good photo to use as a reference? (lets face it animals don't hold still long enough or in the case of lions, etc. you don't want to get too close!

MARVELOUS MONDAY
1-4 This has proven to be a VERY popular class. So much so that we are adding another like it! Wonderful Wednsdays (see below) In this class that is held two to three Mondays a month, students work on their own projecrs. Any medium, any subject, any skill level... New students may start from the beginning and learn basics, so they are not overwhelmed and others work towards the next level of their art objectives. $25 per class or $90 for four. Need not be consecutive, but pre-registration for the classes you want are a must to hold your spot! Enjoy a day or two a month without having to put up your work just as you are getting into it. Students choose any subject they enjoy doing or want to learn to do. See the focus for each month below.

April 11 and 18 We will focus on painting FLOWERS this month. First from photos and then weather permitting we will paint outside and really get the benefit that painting from life offers! Whether you paint loosely or realistic, you will learn to depict flowers that sing!!
June 6 and 20 This month the focus will be on VALUES! Values can make or break your artwork. See how your paintings can improve by following a few simple but proven techniques!.
July 11 and 25 COMPOSITION is the focus and it's not as complicated as they make it out to be! Learn how to apply a few basic principals and make any subject you chose to paint lead the viewers eye where you want it to go. A must if you enter shows or want to sell your work.
August 8 and 22 When you look at an amazing painting many times it jumps out at you is because of the LIGHT AND SHADOWS. This months focus is about how to maximize these elements into your work, whether your reference has it right or not!
BACKGROUNDS WORKSHOP!
How many times have you said now “what am I going to do with the background?” This two day workshop will take all the doubt away and will help you to know what to do no matter your subject. Students may bring in references they would like to do now or in the future or paintings that they did but don't like the backgrounds they chose. Open to all mediums and skill levels.
